My Cottage
Stay tuned for home updates as I (slowly…oh, so slowly) turn my tiny house into a home I enjoy.
The space is small (currently around 700 square feet of livable area) but the needs are great. Deffo a fixer upper but without the Chip and Jo Fixer Upper demo-reno budget. Think 1960’s cottage-sized shanty chic with beautifully aged, raw hardwood floors that are a nightmare to clean and a hodge podge of wall textures {complete with settling cracks in every corner}. Thankfully, the massive amount of trees in my yard make up for the chipping exterior paint and super-sketch plumbing.
The house *does* have a “sunroom” that adds an extra 300 sqft to the mix, but I used quotes because sunroom is a verra loose term here. There is no sun coming into this room because the windows are all different sizes and waist level high. Hmmm, right? Yes, my thoughts exactly. It also has carpet that smells like cat tinkle and feels like it was rolled right out over a wooden porch, so you see why I’m not yet claiming this space for lounging and having a cocktail.
So, while I love this tiny little space for its potential, I can’t wait to make some cohesive changes to bring it into the 2020s.
Keep your eager eyes peeled in this space for a video house tour that no one asked for!
