About Me
state·ly /ˈstātlē/ adjective
having a dignified, unhurried, and grand manner; majestic in manner and appearance
When describing myself, the first adjectives that come to mind are *not* necessarily grand or super dignified. I am pretty chill, low maintenance, and fairly unfussy. But there are times when I am particular and detailed and need things to be ‘just so’. I’m basically a laid back perfectionist and often feel like a walking contradiction.
So, why That Stately Life? Good question. When I think about my values, faith and dreams, it starts to make sense why the word ‘stately’ comes to mind. While the double meaning of traveling the States in the good ol’ US of A works for the blog title, so does the idea that we should all be making the most of this amazing life.
I started with the tagline: [Grand Adventures through a Simple Lens] but that has morphed into my current one. However, the idea behind it still stands: for most people, grand adventures usually mean traveling the world, eating great food, staying in majestic locations and connecting with incredible people. While that is certainly true, it can also mean trying something new (to you), making your home more beautiful on a budget, or decluttering your life so you can breathe more freely. That is my hope for this space: to balance the contradiction between grand and down to earth. Home and away. Dream big and start small. Adventure and simplicity.
My new tagline: [Living with Intention . Growing in Grace] seemed to fit me a little bit more closely so I changed it in 2022. I am imperfect but showing up, working to stay present and content while actively growing, and loving others while graciously challenging them to be better versions of themselves. My goal is to build a life I love & laugh as much as possible along the way!
Fun facts: I love Jesus, the outdoors, talking to people, traveling, butter coffee (don’t @ me), graphic tees and typography in general, writing, dancing, photography, listening to music on long drives, rom-coms, a good old fashioned, pink anything, Jane Austen & Taylor Alison Swift, Fall as a season and a mindset, building, and creating. Being an auntie and teaching other people’s kids (especially STEM) are the major joys of my life as a single gal.
Unofficial Bio: I’m self-employed now, but did tech sales for a year after teaching young kids–specializing in those with reading difficulties–for 21 years. I needed a break, y’all! I am also a North Texas REALTOR, occasional artist, excitable storyteller, and full time coffee shop connoisseur. I spend most of my time dreaming and planning and then figuring out how to get my overwhelmed self to follow simple habits to get that ish done. Because of all that I learned to get moving toward my goals, I’ve added mindset & motivation coaching to the mix. It seems like a lot, I know, but it all works together (I promise.)
